چکیده

This paper proposes broadband packet wireless access employing variable spreading factor-orthogonal frequency and code division multiplexing (VSF-OFCDM) in the forward link and multicarrier(MC)/DS-CDMA in the reverse link for the system beyond IMT-2000. Based on wireless access schemes, we propose major radio air interface parameters in the physical layer to achieve our target maximum throughput beyond 100 Mbps and 20 Mbps in the forward and reverse links, respectively. We present key radio link control technologies such as adaptive radio link parameter control in the physical layer according to the QoS requirement and radio link conditions, random access channel based short and long packet transmission in the reverse link, and a weighted Maximum CIR (carrier-to-interference power ratio) scheduler with the assurance of the minimum throughput for accessing users in the forward link. Furthermore, we apply an incremental redundancy type hybrid automatic repeat request associated with turbo coding. Finally, computer simulation results elucidate that the VSF-OFCDM using the proposed radio link parameters achieves transmission above 100 Mbps with the average packet error rate of 10-2 at the average received signal energy per bit-to-background noise spectrum density ratio of approximately 7.3 dB.

Future Broadband Wireless Access Seamlessly Supporting Cellular and Hot-spot Environments

1. Introduction In order to offer higher data-rate communication services above 2 Mbps in cellular systems, High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is currently under discussion in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) based on the W-CDMA air interface [1]. HSDPA contains such techniques as adaptive modulation and channel coding (AMC) in accordance with radio link conditions (fast lin...

Broadband Packet Wireless Access and Its Field Experiments

For future mobile communication systems beyond 3G systems, it is considered that radio access networks (RANs) with a short delay (i.e., low latency) and with affinity to IP-based core networks are desirable to provide rich high-rate services at low cost. In the presentation, our views on the migration to broadband packet-based RANs in future cellular systems will be presented, and the considere...

Interference Management using Packet Scheduling in Broadband Wireless Access Networks

This paper proposes a transmission scheduling algorithm for interference management in broadband wireless access networks. The algorithm aims to minimize the cochannel interference using basestation coordination while still maintaining the other quality of service (QoS) requirements such as packet delay, throughput, and packet loss. The interference reduction is achieved by avoiding (or minimiz...
